Growing up in a busy city I was quickly taught not to give money to "beggers" (when I was 7 years old I gave a few dollars to a "homeless" person for "bus fare". My mom drove around the block, just to test his story, and we watched him walk out of the liquor store brown bag in hand. Since that day I have not given more than $5 dollars to those in need in the 14 years since.) I'm glad to say that this post has softened my heart, and touched me deeply.
